Owen Fader, our saxophonist performing at this year’s JDRF One Night at the Museum, started playing at the age of 8. His dream from the very beginning was to join the US Armed Forces and play in their renowned band. At the age of 13, he won a spot on the Carnegie Hall stage in New York City.  The following year, he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. He had to realize the end of one dream (as T1 is an automatic disqualification in the Armed Forces) and to dream a new and different dream.

He is currently a Commercial Music Major with an Emphasis in Business, Performance, and Pre & Post Music Production at Belmont University in Nashville.  He wants to complete his master’s degree and his plans are to work in the music industry in all aspects. In his first year there, Owen has already found a place in the top jazz band and will be performing for their Christmas at Belmont event which will be televised Nationwide on PBS starting in December.  Thank you, Owen, for your support!  We are excited to see where your dreams will take you!
