Tom Sorrells, Chief Meteorologist at WKMG News 6
Tom Sorrells is in his 20th year as Chief Meteorologist at WKMG News 6 in Orlando, Florida. Tom was born in Nashville and raised in Greenbrier, Tennessee. He is a proud Alum of Western Kentucky University and The Ohio State University. He holds the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) recognition from the American Meteorological Society and the Seal of Approval from The National Weather Association. Tom is a 3-time Emmy winner for Best Weather (2002, 2006, 2017) from the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He was also awarded the Edward R. Murrow for Continuous Coverage for the 2004 Hurricane Season.
Tom and his wife, Mitra, have raised their three girls in Central Florida and are recent empty nesters with their last child just enrolled in college. All their attention is now focused on their Goldendoodle, Toby.
Meet Our Auctioneer
Alan Frenkel
ALAN FRENKEL received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State
University in 1977. He continued to hone his professional capabilities
in the fine arts while studying abroad in Paris, France for two years.
Mr. Frenkel graduated The Reich International School of Auctioneering,
Mason City, Iowa in 1983.
He further mastered his skills with his 20 year association with
preeminent auctioneer, Karlin Daniel. Mr. Frenkel has participated in
hundreds of auction campaigns in the areas of selling real estate on
behalf of private sellers, estates, municipalities and the bankruptcy
court, as wells as, conducting antique sales and business liquidations.
The governmental, legal and financial communities avail themselves of
Mr. Frenkel’s ability to identify, organize and market their assets in a
manner best suited to produce the highest results. He has worked
closely with secured creditors and many of the bankruptcy Trustees in
conducting successful auctions of real and personal property. He is a
member of the Central Florida Bankruptcy Law Association and Central
Florida Estate Planning Council.
In order to stay abreast of current trends and technologies in the
auction industry, Mr. Frenkel has earned the Certified Auctioneers
Institute (CAI) designation. This is the highest designation offered in
the auction industry and is held by only 15% of all auctioneers.
Additionally, he holds the Certified Estate Specialist (CES)
designation, an advanced program offered by the National Auctioneers
Association for the advanced study of all aspects of selling family
estates through auction.
Mr. Frenkel is deeply rooted in the community. He has been a member
of the Breakfast Rotary Club of Orlando and has served as president. He
works with several non-profit boards and has conducted auctions for
Canine Companions for Independence, Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation, American Cancer Society, the Universal Foundation, the Boy
Scouts, the Boys and Girls Clubs, the Orlando Philharmonic, the Geneva
School and many others.
